California's proposition 2 also passed, meaning that the currently standing gay marriages in California are now worth less than the rights of a caged chicken.
I care about animal rights, and I'm glad that prop 2 passed. But it's depressing to know that love between consenting adults is so hotly contested when a proposition extending more rights to farm animals passes overwhelmingly as if it were a fucking no brainer.

This may be coming a little too late, but I wanted to talk about something I've been hearing a lot about that really feels like sandpaper being rubbed on a dick to me: "small town values."
Just what the FUCK are small town values? What exactly is it about coming from a small town that makes you more qualified than the dude next to you (despite overwhelmingly mountainous pile of evidence to the contrary)? There's nothing inherently wrong with being from a small town...I, myself, happen to come from a rather small city and from a long line of back ass hick weirdos. Granted it's not bum fuck U.S.A. but it's smaller than Dallas and a lot of rednecks do call Grand Prairie home. However, it's getting really old listening to people on the news spouting off this bullshit about "I LIKE SARAH PALIN BECAUSE SHE COMES FROM A SMALL TOWN AND HAS SMALL TOWN VALUES." When faces with the question "And what are small town values?" they just kind of stand there, mouths gaping, like the little right-wing energizer bunny's bullshit battery ran out of juice.
THAT IS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO SUCH THING AS SMALL TOWN VALUES. The United States of America is not a small town, and I'll shit myself right now if you tell me there's no where I can go in this country and not see endless cows. These people think that because they originate from the god damned boonies and live knee deep in horse shit, they love America more than some big city, 9 to 5 office dude (who thanks whatever higher power in which he may or may not believe for the two small joy in his life: getting to wear jeans to work on fridays and possibly not being mugged on the walk home.) These people are insane.
No one loves America more than the person sitting next to them, and frankly why the fuck does that sort of pissing contest even exist? It's exhausting to hear these people go back and forth until they are blue in the face saying I LOVE AMERICA MORE...NO I LOVE IT MORE! WHY DO YOU HATE OUR FREEDOMS! YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY A TERRORIST!
Look: The point is that, no matter how tacky the colors red, white and blue are together, this is a pretty kickass place to live (even despite the fact that I'm still considered subhuman and an abomination in the eyes of "God" for taking it up the ass.) So when you open your ignorant mouth and scream about having small town values and that you love Sarah Palin because she's spunky and refreshing and that she's a "REAL PERSON" for having "SMALL TOWN VALUES" and that your dad has SMALL TOWN VALUES and that your DOG HAS SMALL TOWN VALUES and that the GOD YOU WORSHIP HAS SMALL TOWN VALUES BECAUSE HE GREW UP IN THE TRAILER HOUSE PARKED IN THE LOT NEXT TO YOURS, you sound like an idiot. So quit it plz. Patriotism is not about small town values, whatever the hell those are. And it's not about who loves 'Merica more. It's about being thankful that you live in a place where you shouldn't have to worry about someone beating the shit out of you for being a little different (but it doesn't hurt to watch your back if you're a fag.)
But seriously, Sarah Palin is fucking insane. Sweet dreams.
